Greetings Friends!
Our Covert Conservatives Web Forum was shut down due to
excessive traffic! How cool is
that? We had to upgrade to a dedicated
server and now our speed is quite fast.
I find the most interesting aspect of our success is that it can not be
attributed to any one individual. We
don’t have an Ann Coulter, or a Sean Hannity.
We just have a Web Forum where opinions are respected. As long as everyone remains civil, we can
discuss anything. This has netted us a bunch
of really great members who enjoy discussing mostly conservative topics and
having lots of fun on a daily basis.
Of course, we have our differences. We have some members who are
“liberal-leaning.” But, instead of
trying to chastise them, or kick them out, we choose to include them in our
fun. We enjoy debating with people who
may disagree with us. After all, if we
agreed with each other 100% of the time, it would be a very boring place. Plus, how would you ever know if people were
really in agreement with you, or if they were just kissing you’re a$$?
One important difference you will find at Covert
Conservatives is that we insist on mutual respect. With out this as a foundation, no real
education can ever take place. I know of
several Forums where members are expected to have certain beliefs. If someone asks the wrong question, they are
quickly warned and eventually banned. In
my opinion, that’s no way to spread your message. That only shuts people down, draws lines, and
creates lots of enemies. For some people,
I think that’s the goal.
When someone brings up an opposing point of view at Covert
Conservatives, we take that as an opportunity to discuss the matter and find
out the source of that view. This
exercise helps everyone to hone debating and reasoning skills and tends to draw
us together rather than break us apart.
What we have at Covert Conservatives is greater than any one
person. The real value of our Forum is
in the combined contributions of every single member. Some people have come and gone, and we wish
them well. But, the simple bonds of
friendship that we forged proved to be rock solid and resisted the temptations
of those who would divide us.
